The lesson business leaders can take from this is simple – irrespective of what you feel about a situation, there are times to say what is expected even if that conflicts somewhat with what you believe. That’s not to suggest that companies should misrepresent the facts or be hypocritical, but that there are times when those listening need clarification, confidence, support and trust. Leadership often means understanding what is needed at a specific moment in time.
Companies and organisations facing issues or crises must learn to communicate the right message at the right time for the best outcome.
